Are you a certified medical coder looking for a stable, growing practice where you will feel appreciated for your efforts? If so, we are looking for you! We are currently searching for a certified coder to join our amazing coding team! This position is located at our Administrative offices in East Mesa (Power/Superstition Springs Blvd) and offers a great Monday-Friday, 8-5 schedule.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position ensures that all charges and payments are posted timely and provides daily support to Accounts Receivable Representatives and all of the Billing Department.

The incumbents in this position perform all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements.  Adhering to the requirement in the employee handbook as well as adhering to Tri City’s Standards of Behavior is required. 

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1.  Codes and post all hospital and office charges accurately (confirming demographics, correct diagnosis and procedure coding) timely.
  2.  Creates new patient charts and verifies insurance.
  3.  Creates and maintains daily hospital rounding sheets.
  4.  Creates and maintains physician lacking lists weekly.
  5.  Provides physician education on E&M and coding guidelines, through quarterly meetings and audits.
  6.  Assists AR staff with coding rationale on denied claims.
  7.  Maintains timely posting of all office and hospital charges. Communicates any delays in posting to supervisor.
  8.  Continues to stay current on insurance, billing and coding rationale, modifiers and authorization requirements for accurate billing and coding.
  9.  Maintains CEU’s to keep certifications current.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current Certification CPC, CCC or CCS-P.
  • One year of experience in medical billing department.
  • 40 wpm typing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ICD and CPT codes, billing practices and policies/procedures.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking ability in order to resolve problems and carry out instructions. 
  • Ability to multi task.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills in an effective, clear, calm, friendly and professional manner. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all internal and external customers.
  • Manages tasks in a timely fashion. 
  • Knowledge of basic computer and math skills. 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous medical coding experience preferred.
  • Three to five years medical billing or coding experience.
