Job Description

Tri-City Cardiology is widely known for its progressive and innovative approach to heart and vascular services. Our board certified cardiology physicians are experienced and skilled in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of coronary artery disease, heart valve abnormalities, heart arrhythmias, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol peripheral artery disease and stroke.

This position contributes to the company mission by providing daily support to the financially related services of our patients, performing daily verification of patients financial information, and calling patients to notify them of their out-of-pocket (up-front cash) obligations from information provided by the verification process prior to check-in for the patients visit.


  • Answers all calls in the registration queue in a courteous, professional, & timely manner
  • Confirms the patients scheduled appointments
  • Updates all demographic and insurance information on patients
  • Verifies patient eligibility with insurance companies
  • Obtains authorizations for office visits, testing, cardiac rehabilitation and any other procedure requiring insurance authorization
  • Verifies accuracy of patient information with patient after obtaining authorizations
  • Explains TCCs financial policy to patients and discusses the patients financial responsibility, including co-pays, coinsurance, deductibles, and payment needed at time of visit
  • Assists with all Tier 3 phone calls as needed
  • Refers patients to Financial Counselor for assistance as appropriate
  • Complies with all OSHA and HIPAA policies along with all policies and procedures established by TCC
  • Utilizes AIDET/customer service standards and demonstrates TCC Standards of Behavior
  • Attends all mandatory staff meetings
  • Attends all in-services or seminars related to patient services
  • Demonstrates behavior that is professional and commensurate with the position in accordance with Tri-City's Standards of Behavior
  • Maintains a professional and courteous environment
  • Maintains strict patient and employee confidentiality
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills / Requirements


  • High School diploma or GED
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes, billing practices and policies/procedures
  • One year collection experience preferred
  • Two to five years experience with insurance companies preferred
